Your Co-op Your Role
As a co-op member, you are
actually one of the owners of the co-op.
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Supporting the co-op by purchasing as many of the goods and services you
need from the co-operative.
- Directing the organization by attending general and annual meetings or even
serving on committees.
- Financing the co-op through share capital investment.
- Providing comments and suggestions to help us improve our products and
services.
- Promoting and supporting local ownership – not just at the Co-op, but
throughout our community.
We own it, we support it
Co-ops don’t belong to any one person. They depend on the support of
hundreds and thousands of households like yours. They are businesses for
people and are administered by those same people. So, unlike most other
grocery stores that are owned by large corporations controlled by
profit-seeking investors, Co-ops are owned and operated by local people just
like you.
At the co-op, you are more than just a customer – you’re an owner!
